HIKES AND BIKES AND BIOLOGY SOMETIMES

Multnomah / Wahkeena Loop

Crowded until it wasn’t

You’ve probably done this hike (I’ve probably done it too).

I’m not sure exactly why we chose this hike as we’re usually looking for solitude, but this is where we ended up.

It starts at Multnomah Falls. We hiked the paved path up to the top of the falls then continued south into the trees. The number of people at the falls and on the falls trail was incredible, but once we got past the top of the falls, we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

People who don’t hike past the top of the falls are missing a special area around Weisendanger Falls.

If you are bringing some relatives or visitors out here, I recommend you take them up past Weisendanger Falls to get a glimpse of what Pacific Northwest forests can be like.

It’s a little bit of a workout.
