HIKES AND BIKES AND BIOLOGY SOMETIMES

Cape Horn Loop

Spectacular views close to home.

This trail is closed from February 1 to July 15 to protect peregrine falcon nesting sites.

I always worry that we won’t have a good time on historically busy trails, but we only saw about 7 people here. Not bad for a popular hike. There’s over a mile of pavement at one end and most people hike the loop counterclockwise. We chose to go clockwise because we don’t like walking on pavement and wanted to get that part over with first.

The forests aren’t the oldest here, there is some road and train noise, but the views are spectacular. There are number of natural viewpoints and a couple of developed viewpoints. There is a falling hazard, so keep the kids and dogs close.
