Cape Falcon

Just 10 meters from the road and it’s already awesome.

I’ve wanted to explore this end of Oswald West State Park since I first started working in wildlife biology. It’s one of Oregon’s last remaining patches of old-growth that’s right up against the coast. I surveyed for marbled murrelet for 6 years and coastal old-growth holds a very special place in my heart.

The hike parallels the road for a little bit, then cuts up through some second growth before dropping down to the Cape. This hike has something for everyone.

There’s more off-trail exploring to be done here.
